Mat-1: Recycling Waste Storage Product may assist in a project obtaining credit points as it facilitates the use of storage space for recycling of resources in accordance with the prescribed requirements. |
Points Available 2 |
Mat-3: Reused Materials Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it will contribute to the projects use of reused products/materials in accordance with prescribed requirements. |
Points Available 1 |
Mat-3 Note 1: Reused Materials Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it will contribute to the projects use of reused products/materials in accordance with prescribed requirements. Product may contribute as an individual component, in achieving this credit as product can be re used at the end of its life, in accordance with the prescribed requirements. |
Points available 1 |
Mat-5: Concrete Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it provides an industrial waste alternative to high embodied energy Portland cement in concrete. Points achieved will correspond to prescribed percentages of reduction achieved and a third point may be achieved where 10% of aggregate used in structural concrete is RCA – Class 1 recycled aggregate, and no natural aggregates are used in non-structural applications. |
Points available 3 |
Mat-6: Steel Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it will contribute to a projects use of structural/reinforcing/stressing steel containing a high percentage of post consumer recycled content. |
Points available 3 |
Mat-7: PVC Minimisation Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it provides an alternative to a standard PVC item (e.g. insulation, pipes, conduits and sheathing for copper wires and cables, carpet tile backing, floor coverings and window frames). Credit points achieved are determined by the percentage (by cost) of standard PVC items replaced by PVC alternatives. |

Mat-8: Sustainable Timber Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it meets the timber and composite timber requirements as being either reused timber, post-consumer recycled timber or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC, Chain of Custody) Certified Timber. One credit point is available where 50% (by cost) of timber and timber composite products meet the prescribed requirements; to achieve two credit points 95% (by cost) of timber and timber composite products must meet the prescribed requirements. |

Mat-8 Note 1: Sustainable Timber Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it meets the timber and composite timber requirements as being either reused timber, post-consumer recycled timber or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC, Chain of Custody) Certified Timber. One credit point is available where 50% (by cost) of timber and timber composite products meet the prescribed requirements; to achieve two credit points 95% (by cost) of timber and timber composite products must meet the prescribed requirements. This product may assist a project in obtaining this credit as it provides an alternative to non-FSC certified timber product thereby minimising the value required in FSC timber to meet the 50% or 95% certified fractions. |
Points Available 2 |
Mat-9: Design for Disassembly Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it facilitates the disassembly of a projects structural framing, roofing or facade cladding system. Credit point is achieved where 50% (by area) of the structural framing, roofing, and facade cladding systems are designed for disassembly, OR 95% of the total facade is designed for disassembly. |
Points Available 1 |
Mat-10: Dematerialisation Product is likely to assist in a project obtaining credits as it provides a means of reducing the total amount of material used. Point my be available where less material is used to provide for the buildings structural requirements but maintains integrity, or alternatively reducing material use in a combination of areas including structure, ductwork, building efficiency, finishes, cladding and/or piping. Point achievement dependant on satisfying specific percentage reduction requirements. |
Points Available 1 |
Mat-11: Local Sourcing Product may assist in a project obtaining credits as the production and material resources are located within South Africa and therefore have a high probability of being within the prescribed radii of the site. One point is awarded where 20% of the contract cost is represented by products or materials sourced within 400km of the building site. An additional point may be awarded where 10% of the total cost is sourced within 50km of the site. To qualify for this credit products and materials must be permanent in the building and be harvested, extracted, recovered, and manufactured within the prescribed radii of the site. |
